In light of an evolving legal environment, COVID-19 restrictions, and increased vetting of some visa applicants, the AHA urges all non-US citizens travelling to the annual meeting to inquire as early as possible about visa requirements for travelers from their country. Information on visa applications can be found at the US Department of State website. Travel policies continue to change regularly, so travellers should check with the embassy or consulate in their country for the most up-to-date information.

According to news reports, the government will lift pandemic-related travel restrictions that currently limit entry to the United States for foreign nationals from a number of countries on November 8, 2021. Travellers will need to be fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by either the Centers for Disease Control or the World Health Organization. Air travellers will also need to submit proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test. Citizens from Canada, Israel, and a number of other countries can currently enter the US with proof of a negative COVID test. We will update this page as additional information becomes available.

Participants who require a formal letter of invitation from the AHA to support their visa application should fill out the visa letter request form. Be sure to list your name as it appears on your passport. See below for important links on visa processes.

Those who normally travel on the visa waiver program should be aware that restrictions announced in January 2016 require certain travelers from visa waiver program countries to obtain a visa before traveling to the United States.
