On Friday, September 11 at noon, Villanova University’s Albert Lepage Center for History in the Public Interest kicks off its fall programming with a lunchtime talk by some of our latest grantees!
Curated by artist Stacy Kranitz, the West Virginia Mine Wars Museum’s (WVMWM) 2026 exhibit “Entirely Preventable” explores the invisible but deadly legacy of silica dust exposure across West Virginia’s coal mining workforce. Set against the backdrop of historic and contemporary labor activism, the exhibit traces a long arc of resistance from the 1930s Hawk’s Nest Tunnel disaster to the fight to implement federal silica regulations in mining today.
In this webinar, WVMWM’s Creative Director Shaun Slifer and Communications Director Taylor Hawkins will discuss the exhibit’s development process and historical approach since receiving a Lepage Center grant last fall.
