Event Description
Carthage College and Kenosha’s Civil War Museum will host eminent scholars from around the country, who will share their unique insights into the legacy of Abraham Lincoln during the fifth annual Lincoln Symposium on April 24-25.
A $50 registration fee covers all sessions plus two meals.
The opening events on Friday evening, April 24, will take place at the Civil War Museum, 5400 1st Ave. Keynote presenters are:
Raymond McKoski, an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois Chicago and retired judge, who will present on “David Davis: A Lincoln Loyalist and Impartial Jurist”.
William Davis, retired executive director of the Virginia Center for Civil War Studies and history professor at Virginia Tech, whose talk is titled “The Making of the Confederacy — How the South Created a New Government”.
The symposium will continue on Saturday, April 26, on the Carthage campus, 2001 Alford Park Drive, featuring five additional speakers. Lincoln served as a trustee for the college at an earlier location in Springfield, Illinois, from 1860 to 1861.
Carthage and the Civil War Museum are presenting the symposium in partnership with The Lincoln Forum and the Lincoln Presidential Foundation. The full schedule, speaker biographies, and registration form can be found at:
