The Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) Mid-Atlantic and US Territories Region, managed by the American Historical Association, issues subgrants of up to $25,000 through two Library of Congress programs. Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) grants fund initiatives grounded in engagement with primary sources and tailored to the unique needs of learners in specific communities. The Lewis-Houghton Civics and Democracy Initiative (LHI) supports civics, history, and democracy education using creative-arts based primary sources for secondary students.

This webinar introduced the TPS Mid-Atlantic and US Territories Region and our regional subgrants. AHA Program and Data Analyst Whitney Barringer covered the rules for eligibility, discussed the application process, and gave tips and suggestions for how to make a competitive application.

This program is designed to support the integration of primary sources into any subject and is not limited to history, civics, or social studies classrooms.

The Mid-Atlantic and US Territories region covers the following jurisdictions: Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Guam.
