Following the September 15 release of Free to Think 2026, Scholars at Risk invites network members to a special virtual conversation exploring the report’s key findings and how members can put them to use to defend academic freedom.
The annual Free to Think report documents attacks on higher education communities around the world and identifies emerging threats to academic freedom. We will begin with a brief overview of the major findings and trends from Free to Think 2026, followed by a discussion of how SAR members can put the report into practice on their campuses and in their broader communities.
The conversation will include practical ideas for bringing the report into campus programming, sharing its findings with colleagues, supporting advocacy efforts, and building greater awareness of threats to academic freedom. The session will conclude with time for questions and discussion among members.
