Event Description
Cemeteries are important historic records that provide insight into past societies, demographics, cultural practices, and the lives of decedents through the information inscribed on gravemarkers, as well as the design of the landscape. Cemeteries act as tangible links for current generations to their ancestors, and their documentation and preservation allows for future research and understanding of our history and heritage. The webinar will explore both digital and non-digital resources available through a variety of repositories such as topographical maps, Works Projects Administration surveys, and Eagle Scout projects to help researchers uncover information on previous documentation efforts while uncovering other potential avenues to further expand the breadth of documentary materials. Pulling from previous documentation projects, the webinar will help attendees develop a methodology to process information gleaned from all of the available resources.
