Event Description

The Business History Society of Japan, the Canadian Business History Association, the Business History Conference, and the European Business History Association are pleased to invite you to the Third World Congress on Business History in Toronto.

The local hosts found a fantastic venue and are working on a side program as well. Planned Additional Conference Programming will include:
● Guides for museums, shopping, and art galleries, including the Royal Ontario Museum, Bata Shoe Museum, Textile Museum, Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art, Art Gallery of Ontario, Aga Khan Museum.
● Toronto Business History Walking Tours, downloadable audio/video created by Rotman MBA students of themes, firms, geographies of Canadian/global business history: Distillery District, Financial District, Fashion District, retailing (Eaton’s), manufacturing (Massey), or food services (St. Lawrence Market).
● Plant Tour of automotive manufacturing facility (firm TBD).
● Archival Tours of banking, retail, or other firms/institutions.
● Streetcar Tour of downtown Toronto, with local historians/guides
● Sporting Events (Blue Jays/TFC/Argonauts) and concerts.

📢 As of now, we have already secured a number of fun events, these include a Blue Jays game (Canada’s one and only Major League Baseball team) and a Business History Streetcar Tour of Toronto, where delegates will have the opportunity to learn about Toronto’s business history through the city’s most iconic mode of transportation.
We have also organized for delegates to witness and actively participate in ringing the Toronto Stock Exchanges’ closing bell
Finally, the University of Toronto is actively working on organizing a number of other activities, including a tour of Toyota’s historic Canadian factory

1️⃣ Monday, July 27: Curator’s Tour of TD Bank Tower, 54th Floor Executive Suite, 1-3 pm (TBC); Toronto Stock Exchange, Closing Bell, 16:00
2️⃣ Thursday, July 30: Business History Streetcar Tour of Toronto, 19:00-21:00
3️⃣ Friday, July 31: Toronto Blue Jays v. St. Louis Cardinals, 19:00
