The annual meeting of the HTA Oversight Committee was held in Gainesville, Florida on February 4, 1989. Executive Officers from the AHA, OAH, NCSS, and AASLH reviewed Alliance operations and discussed new funding initiatives. They also evaluated new proposals to the HTA and voted to fund the following ten alliance projects:

"Southern Federal Courts and Ethnicity," Ann W. Ellis, Kennesaw College and Miller Barron, Cobb County Schools, Marietta, Georgia.

"Historical Geography of American Minorities," Lawrence E. Estaville, Jr., Clemson University and Louann Bismack, Westside High School, Anderson, South Carolina.

"Latin America, Past and Present," Bryan LeBeau, Creighton University and Gary Caldwell, Omaha Public Schools, Omaha, Nebraska.

"The Worker Response to the Industrial Revolution," Jim Lorence, University of Wisconsin-Marathon County Campus and James Grinsel, Wausau West High School, Wausau, Wisconsin.

"Women in European History," Stephen Pistono, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Sister Rita Krusell, Columbus High School, Marshfield, Wisconsin.

"Understanding the Native American Experience in the Connecticut River Valley," Neil Salisbury, Five Colleges, Inc. and Shaun Bresnahan, Belchertown High School, Belchertown, Massachusetts.

"The Third World: African History in Global Perspective," John N. Short, University of Arkansas-Monticello and Karen Eoff, Southeast Arkansas Educational Service Cooperative, Monticello, Arkansas.
