The History Teaching Alliance has planned two sessions for the 1989 AHA Annual Meeting in San Francisco.

On December 28, Thursday, beginning at 2:30, the HTA will sponsor a session entitled, "Innovative Teaching Collaboratives in History: Africa, Latin America, and World History through Biography and Autobiography." The session will be chaired by HTA Director Jane Landers and will be held in the Shasta Room of the San Francisco Hilton. John Short, University of Arkansas, Monticello will speak on, "The Third World: African History in Global Perspective," a topic, drawn from a very successful ongoing HTA collaborative. Professor Short is in the process of extending the collaborative to include a research trip to Africa by the program's secondary school teachers. Other panelists in this session are directors of ongoing HTA collaboratives and will be on hand to discuss their programs with interested participants and a reception will follow in the Carmel Room.

"Training Historians to Teach: A Dialogue Among Equals," an HTA session cocreated by Judith Zinsser, United Nations International School also will be held in the Shasta Room, beginning at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 30. Two panelists not listed for this session in the AHA Program are: George Donelson Moss, City College of San Francisco and Wendall Zartman, Jr., Lamar High School, Houston.
