Recent events in Washington have made funds for research and curriculum development increasingly scarce. With the new budget, government agencies are faced with canceling or suspending many long-standing competitions at the last minute. Although research opportunities still exist, they will become even more competitive than they already are. A number of former program officers at the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Science Foundation have recently formed a consulting group to help you make your grants more competitive in this challenging environment.

Bonnie Magness-Gardiner, consulting partner in National Grants & Fellowships Consultants, will hold a two-hour grants workshop on Saturday, January 6, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM., in the Summit Room of the Marriott Marquis. This informational session is designed to provide you with the most current information about

• grant-review procedures, and
• budgets
