The AHA is pleased to announce its 2023–24 fellows for the Fellowships in Aerospace History.
The Fellowships in Aerospace History, awarded annually, are supported by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and administered by the AHA, the History of Science Society (HSS), and the Society for the History of Technology. The fellowships provide funding to scholars undertaking advanced research projects in all aspects of aerospace history, including cultural and intellectual history, economic history, the history of law and public policy, and the history of science, engineering, and management.
The 2023–24 AHA Fellowship in Aerospace History has been awarded to Andrew Ross, a PhD candidate at Georgetown University, who will be conducting research for his dissertation, “Ranges of Empire: US Missile Ranges, Planetary Infrastructure Building, and Global Militarism, 1945–1965.”
The 2023–24 AHA Fellowship in the History of Space Technology has been awarded to Haris Durrani, a PhD candidate at Princeton University, to work on his dissertation, “A Satellite for All: Law, Technology, and Empire in the Global Cold War, 1959–1968.”
The 2023–24 HSS Fellowship in Aerospace History has been awarded to William Marino, a PhD candidate at University of California, Santa Barbara, who will be working on his dissertation, “The Places of Mars: Planetary Geologists and Environmental Knowledge on the Red Planet, 1960–1999.”
