The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation offers one $10,000 General Lemuel C. Shepherd, Jr. Memorial Dissertation Fellowship per academic year to a qualified graduate student working on a doctoral dissertation pertinent to Marine Corps history. Topics in U.S. military and naval history, as well as history and history-based studies in the social and behavioral sciences, with a direct relationship to the history of the United States Marine Corps will be considered.
