1999 General Information about Housing

Please read this page before calling the Washington Convention and Visitors Association (WCVA) Housing Service.

To make reservations for the annual meeting, call the WCVA Housing Service, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time:

The hotels will not accept reservations. The cutoff date is December 14 (December 4 at the Omni Shoreham and the Days Inn). International attendees may call the metro area number listed above or fax the information requested below to the Housing Service's 24-hour fax number (202) 289-8079. (Only international fax requests will be honored. U.S. and Canadian attendees must use the "800" or Metro area number to make reservations.)

The housing service offers confirmation by mail or fax.

Please have the following information available prior to calling for reservations:

  • Name of meeting: American Historical Association 1999
  • Hotel preferences (1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices)
  • Arrival/departure dates and times
  • Number of rooms required
  • Type of room: single, double (1 bed, 2 people), twin (2 beds, 2 people), triple, quad, suite
  • Number of people in party
  • Arrival time
  • Credit card type, account number, name as it appears on the card, and expiration date
  • Names of all occupants of room(s)
  • Address or fax number to which confirmation should be sent
  • Daytime telephone number with area code
  • Special requests (ADA accessible, smoking/nonsmoking, king-size bed, etc.)

 

Deposit

A standard $100 deposit is required of all reservations. The deposit amount is payable by credit card or check.

Credit card: Your credit card will be charged immediately. The credit card statement will read "Convention Housing Deposit, Washington, D.C." Most major credit cards are accepted. Your room confirmation will be sent upon acceptance of your credit card charge.

Checks: An invoice for the one night's deposit will be mailed to you. Payment must be received within 15 days of the invoice date or your reservation will be canceled. Do not send payment without an invoice stub. Your room confirmation will be sent upon receipt of your check.

Changes

Prior to December 14 (December 4 at the Omni Shoreham and the Days Inn), all changes should be made directly with the WCVA Housing Service.

After December 14 (December 4 at the Omni Shoreham and the Days Inn), please contact the assigned hotel directly with any changes or cancellations.

Cancellations/Refunds

Cancellations made prior to December 14 (December 4 at the Omni Shoreham and the Days Inn) should be made through the WCVA Housing Service, and will be refunded fully by the WCVA Housing Service.

Cancellations after December 14 (December 4 at the Omni Shoreham and the Days Inn) and more than 72 hours prior to arrival should be made through the hotel, which will issue the refund. Please note that a $10 fee will be deducted from your deposit.

Reservations must be canceled 72 hours prior to arrival or the entire deposit is forfeited.
