Re-Collecting the African American Experience

The cover shows the Woolworth’s Counter from the Greensboro, N.C., sit-in of February 1, 1960, on display in the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History. The new museum featured in the interview with Lonnie Bunch will be home to similar iconic images and artifacts pertaining to African American history and culture. Photo by Chris Hale.
