Grant of the Week: Baker-Burton Book Award for the European Section of the Southern Historical Association
Every week, Perspectives Daily showcases a new grant, fellowship, or scholarship that has been posted to our free community calendar. This week we are featuring the Baker-Burton Book Award, European Section.
The European History Section of the Southern Historical Association continues to take nominations for the Baker-Burton Award, given to the best first book in European history (the entire continent, from pre-history to present) by a member of the Section or a graduate student or faculty member of a Southern college or university. Books published between August 1, 2020, and July 31, 2021, are eligible for consideration.
Criteria for selection include quality and originality of research, new and stimulating interpretations and insights, and literary quality. Eligible books may be recommended to the chair of the Baker-Burton-Smith Committee by their authors or by any member of the Section. The person making the recommendation is responsible for ensuring that each committee member receives a copy no later than August 1 of the year the award is given.
A full description of this award may be found here.
Please contact the committee chair, John Frymire, University of Missouri (firstname.lastname@example.org), in order to receive shipping addresses for the three committee members. Nominations received by August 1, 2021, are guaranteed full consideration. (Late nominations may require expedited shipping to committee members.)
The award amount is $250.
End: August 1, 2021
