Grant of the Week: AIIS Research and Arts Fellowships to India

Zoe Jackson | Jun 20, 2018

Every week, AHA Today showcases a new grant, fellowship, or scholarship of interest to historians which has been posted to our free Calendar. This week we are featuring research and arts fellowships to India from the American Institute of Indian Studies.

For more than 50 years, the American Institute of Indian Studies has provided funding to pre- and post-doctoral scholars and artists in pursuit of knowledge about India. The 2018 fellowship competition for fellowships to be carried out in 2019-2020 is now open.

  • Junior Fellowships are for graduate students conducting research for their doctoral dissertations in India.
  • Senior Long- and Short-term Fellowships are for those holding the PhD degree.
  • Performing and Creative Arts Fellowships are available to accomplished practitioners of the arts to conduct their projects in India.
