Phil Mariage’s public radio program, “Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow,” brings together speakers from three generations to discuss issues ranging from politics to fads to auto repair. In one of his most recent programs he focused on history and brought in the following guests, in order of the generation they represent (older, middle, younger):

• John Hope Franklin, emeritus professor of history at Duke University, past president of the AHA, and recent winner of the Kluge Prize
• Peter Stearns, Provost at George Mason University, and former Vice President of the AHA’s Teaching Division
• W. Fitzhugh Brundage, William B. Umstead Professor of History and Director of Graduate Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and co-moderator the of AHA’s Directors of Graduate Studies list serve
