Join Your Fellow Historians at the 106th Annual Jackson Day Race!
Historians attending the annual meeting are invited to participate in the 106th annual Jackson Day Race on Sunday, January 6, starting at 8:30 a.m. Both runners and walkers are welcome!
The 9 K (5.6 mile) race from Old Spanish Fort on the bank of Bayou St. John to Jackson Square in the French Quarter roughly follows the route that Lafitte’s pirates took in responding to the call of Major General Andrew Jackson for reinforcements preceding the 1815 Battle of New Orleans.
Historians who would like to participate in the race should preregister at New Orleans Track Club using the discount code AHA13 by December 15. Registration is $25 per person. Those who preregister using the discount code can pick up their race packets in the AHA Headquarters Office in the Marriott’s Mardi Gras Ballroom F between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 5.
On the morning of the race from 7 to 8 a.m. bus transportation will be provided from the Jax Brewery on Decatur Street to the starting line at the Old Spanish Fort. The race finishes near the Jax Brewery.
Want to run with an AHA group? Meet in the lobby of the Marriott at 7:30 a.m. to walk to the bus together.
Why not run in your AHA meeting T-shirt?
