The print version of the Program for the 127th Annual Meeting of the AHA, to be held January 3–6, 2013, in New Orleans, was mailed to members in mid-October (the Program is alsoavailable online and as a downloadable PDF).

The meeting registration form was included in the print versions of the October and November 2012 issues of Perspectives on History. Members and nonmembers can alsoregister online. Attendees must register first in order to access accommodation information. Preregistration must be submitted no later than Wednesday, December 17, 2012, midnight. After this date, onsite registration rates will be assessed.

The AHA has reserved blocks of rooms at five hotels: New Orleans Marriott (headquarters), the Sheraton New Orleans (co-headquarters), the Hotel Monteleone, the Roosevelt New Orleans, and the Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel. The single rate at the Marriott and Sheraton is $139 single, at the Monteleone $130, and at the Roosevelt $149. The additional person charge at these four hotels is $20. The Crowne Plaza rates are $129 single and double. Suite rates range from $250 to $350, depending on the hotel. All rooms are subject to city and state taxes, currently 13 percent plus a $3 city/occupancy tax, per room, per night. The discounted meeting rates are in effect three days before and after the January 3–6 meeting dates and are for a limited number of rooms only at each property.

Making a Hotel Reservation

Once registered, attendees will be provided with information to make either a standard room or a suite reservation through the AHA's Housing Desk. Reservations can be made via the Internet or via the housing desk's toll-free number.

Cut-off Date

The cutoff date for the AHA's official blocks at all hotels is December 16, 2012. After this date, remaining inventory in each hotel’s block will be released and rooms will be available at the AHA’s convention rates on a space-available basis at the time of reservation. If all hotels sell out, the AHA will secure additional hotel rooms.
