Mary Elizabeth Perry, UC Los Angeles, was awarded the Sierra Prize for the best scholarly monograph of 1991 for her book, Gender and Disorder in Early Modern Seville

John Harley Warner, Yale Univ., received the William H. Welch Medal in May 1991 from the American Association for the History of Medicine for his book, The Therapeutic Perspective: Medical Practice, Knowledge, and Identity in America, 1820–1885

Dora B. Weiner, UC Los Angeles, has been awarded a three-year Charles E. Culpeper Foundation Scholarship for her project entitled, “Observe and Heal: The Origins of a Humane Medicine in the French Revolution—Philippe Pinel (1745–1826), Internal Pathology and Mental Alienation.”

Stanley B. Winters, New Jersey Institute of Technology, was awarded the Josef Hlavka Medal for service to the historiography of Czechoslovakia by the Czechoslovak Academy of Arts and Sciences
