AHA Annual Meeting

Recent events in Washington have made funds for research and curriculum development increasingly scarce. With the new budget, government agencies are faced with canceling or suspending many long-standing competitions at the last minute. Although research opportunities still exist, they will become even more competitive than they already are. A number of former program officers at the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Science Foundation have recently formed a consulting group to help you make your grants more competitive in this challenging environment.

Bonnie Magness-Gardiner, consulting partner in National Grants & Fellowships Consultants, will hold a two-hour grants workshop on Saturday, January 6, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM., in the Summit Room of the Marriott Marquis. This informational session is designed to provide you with the most current information about

  • federal and private funding opportunities,
  • promoting individual scholarly research within an institutional framework,
  • framing research for specific requests for proposals,
  • effective grant writing,
  • grant-review procedures, and
  • budgets

Dr. Magness-Gardiner will also be available for drop-in consultation or scheduled appointments at booth 3 in the book exhibit are January 6 and 7. If you cannot attend annual meeting and would like information about current funding opportunities or the services offered by National Grants & Fellowships Consultants, call (202) 508-8248.
