Meeting Registration

AHA meeting registration will be located in the Atlanta Hilton's Grand Ballroom, one floor up from hotel registration on the lobby level. Hours of operation areThursday, January 4, from 12 noon to 7 PM, Friday, January 5, from 8 A.M. to 6 P.M.; and Saturday, January 6, from 8:30 AM to 4 P.M. Registration rates at the meeting are $70 for members, $90 for nonmembers, $40 for students/unemployed, and $10 for precollegiate teachers.

Individuals who have preregistered and book exhibitors should direct questions to one of two desks marked "Preregistration/ Exhibitors," Participants registering at the meeting should enroll at desks marked "Registration." These will be divided alphabetically into four workstations. Meeting participants can also pay AHA membership dues and purchase AHA publications at the "Membership/Publications" desk. Publications can be examined at the AHA book exhibit booth (number 74), located in the Galleria Exhibit Hall

Please note that advance registrants unable to attend the meeting can request a full refund of their registration fee if a written request returning the meeting badge is postmarked by or on December 22, 1995.

Locator File, Information Desks, and Bulletin Boards

The locator file and bulletin boards will be located in the Grand Ballroom, Pre-registrants and individuals registering at the meeting can return completed locator list cards at the receiving desk of the locator file. Throughout the course of the meeting, individuals can consult Locator Desk workers for information about colleagues. Desks will be divided alphabetically into four workstations. Members are advised that very few cards will be received on Thursday, January 4. By far the busiest time period, both for depositing cards at the receiving desk and requesting information at Locator Desks, will be Friday morning, January 5. Ten student workers and a Local ArrangementsCommittee supervisor will be on hand to accept cards and to file them as quickly as possible. Participants’ patience and understanding while workers integrate cards into the card files will be appreciated.

The bulletin boards will serve both as informal message centers and as a place to announce special meetings, changes, and the like. Items posted on the bulletin boards will be divided alphabetically. Attendees posting signs or looking for information should observe this system.

Information about the annual meeting, the city of Atlanta, and the AHA will be available at the Information Desks located in the prefunction area outside the Grand Ballroom.

Meal Ticket Cashier

Tickets for meal events-except those sponsored by organizations that sell their own tickets-will be available from the cashiers at the meal ticket cashier desk in the Grand Ballroom. All payments must be made in U.S. currency, by cash or traveler’s check. The cashiers will have a listing of all luncheons and breakfasts as well as information on whether the sponsoring organizations will have tickets available for sale at the annual meeting.

Two breakfasts have been scheduled. A limited number of tickets for the annual breakfast meeting of the AHA Committee on Women Historians will be available through the cashiers on a first-come, first-served basis. These tickets will be $15. Breakfast tickets prepaid through the meeting preregistration form should also be picked up at the meal ticket cashier's window prior to the event Saturday morning. The AHA Modern European History Section will sponsor a breakfast on Sunday, January 7, at 8 A.M. Tickets are $18. This breakfast substitutes for the section's usual luncheon.

Schedule of Luncheon Meetings

Ten luncheons will be held during annual meeting, five on Friday, January 5, and five on Saturday, January 6. The following organizations will hold luncheons on Friday, January 5: Conference on Asian History, Conference on Latin American History, History Department Chairs, Organization of History Teachers, and Phi Alpha Theta. The following groups will hold luncheon meetings on Saturday, January 6: Advanced Placement American and European History, American Catholic Historical Association, Coordinating Council for Women in History, Polish American Historical Association, and Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations. Affiliated Society Display

The prefunction area of the Atlanta Hilton's Grand Ballroom, near AHA meeting registration desks, has been reserved from 11 :30 A.M. to 1 P.M. on Friday, January 5, for affiliated societies to display materials and to meet with members of the profession. Drop by and examine pub publications and collect membership forms.
