The recipient of the tenth annual J. Franklin Jameson Fellowship in American History is Michael R. Hyman of Brooklyn, NY. The selection was made by the AHA Committee on the Jameson Fellowship composed of Ronald Bayor, Georgia Institute of Technology (chair); Jane H. Pease, University of Maine, Orono; and John Bodnar, Indiana University.
Dr. Hyman received his PhD in history from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York in 1986. He is currently a freelance writer and editor for humanities projects and educational textbooks. He plans to spend the fall semester in residence at the Library of Congress conducting research that will complement and expand upon the research conducted in writing his dissertation. His thesis is a study of local and state politics in the southern United States in the decade following the end of Reconstruction.
The Jameson Fellowship is awarded for one semester or as much of an academic year that the fellow desires to spend in residence at the Library.
