In Memoriam

Vernon Snow, who received his PhD in 1953, died on June 24, 1998.

Dr. Snow had taught at the universities of Oregon, Montana, and Nebraska before he joined the faculty at Syracuse University in 1974, where he taught English history and Western civilization. Professor Snow was the author of Essex the Rebel: The Life of Robert Devereux (1970), Parliament in Elizabethan England (1977), and coeditor of The Private Journals of the Long Parliament (2 vols., 1982–87). He also served for 20 years as the president of the John Ben Snow Foundation of Syracuse.
