Journals Spotlight Tuning Project
The AHA’s Tuning project—a collaborative effort with over 100 history department faculty from across the country to articulate the knowledge and skills that students acquire when studying history—received special notice in two journals over the summer. The June issue of World History Connected, the online journal of the World History Association, included a forum on Tuning and its efforts to improve general education courses. The forum was drawn from a session at the AHA’s 2016 annual meeting in Atlanta.
The August issue of The History Teacher, a peer-reviewed journal published by the Society for History Education, also featured multiple articles on Tuning, calling it an “incredible and ambitious endeavor.” The authors, each of whom participated in the AHA’s project, wrote on a range of topics, from closing the transfer gap to addressing diverse stakeholders.
