Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

I am an insurance company administrator who was trained as an historian. Alexandra M. Lord's letter in the February 2003 Perspectives makes a significant point: there are many historians out there who are not teaching, but working in other fields. Information about them should be published in the job market articles of Perspectives.

I do commend the AHA for having a membership category for the nonteaching historian and would like to point out that these members are just as professional as professors. Perhaps the AHA and Perspectives can place more emphasis on the nonteaching members.
