Accommodations
Blocks of rooms have been reserved at the Hilton Atlanta (headquarters), Atlanta Marriott Marquis (co-headquarters), the Westin Peachtree Plaza Atlanta, the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, and the Residence Inn Atlanta Downtown. AHA sessions are scheduled in the Hilton, Marriott, and Westin. Affiliated society sessions are scheduled in the Hilton, Hyatt, and Westin. The Hilton will house AHA registration, meal ticket cashiers, and the Exhibit Hall. The Marriott will accommodate the Job Register and the Messaging and Internet Center. A shuttle will operate between the Marriott and the Westin. Hotel reservation forms can be downloaded from the AHA’s web site.
Rates at the Hilton, Marriott, and Westin are $99 single and $119 double. Rates at the Hyatt are $85 single and double. City and state occupancy taxes of 15 percent per room, per night apply.
Hotel reservations must be made exclusively with the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau’s housing bureau.
Requests for reservations will be accepted via the Internet (www.historians.org/annual), the call center, fax, or mail (if accompanied by a check deposit) through 8:00 p.m. EST, December 14, 2006.
The call center (toll-free, 866-799-8927) will accept reservations from the United States and Canada between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday.
International callers may call 506-637-0311 to make reservations during normal business hours.
Faxes from U.S. and international attendees may be sent 24 hours a day, seven days a week to 506-433-3033, but will be processed during business hours.

Reservation requests can be sent by mail if payments are made by check, and should be sent to the AHA Housing Bureau, 233 Peachtree Street NE, Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30303. Checks should be made payable to AHA Housing Bureau, in U.S. funds, drawn on a U.S. bank. No wire transfers or purchase orders will be accepted.
The housing bureau will send an acknowledgment message for all new reservations, modifications, and cancellations, within 72 hours of processing. Mail acknowledgments will be sent within seven days. Room reservations made by phone are confirmed immediately with an acknowledgment number.
A deposit is required for all reservations. For standard rooms: $125, for one-bedroom suites: $250; and for two-bedroom suites: $375. Deposits can be paid by check or credit card (American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Diner's Club, and Discover), which will be billed after reservations are transferred to individual hotels (December 14, 2006).
The cutoff date is 8:00 p.m. EST, December 14, 2006; remaining inventory will be released and rooms will be available on a space-available basis at the AHA's convention rates.
Meeting attendees can continue to make, modify, or cancel reservations from September 5 through December 14, 2006, 8:00 p.m. EST through the housing bureau by telephone, fax, in writing, or through e-mail. There is no penalty to cancel on or before December 14, unless guaranteed by check deposit (which are assessed a $25 processing fee at any time).
Beginning December 19, attendees who wish to cancel must contact the hotel directly. After December 19, date changes made directly with the hotel for arrivals or departures can only be made based on hotel availability. Reservations canceled after December 14 but prior to 72 hours of arrival will be subject to a $25 processing fee.
Registration
The meeting preregistration form can be downloaded from the AHA’s annual meeting web page. Preregistration for the 2007 meeting will be handled by a processing service and forms should be sent to the address shown on the form and not the AHA. Attendees can also preregister online (www.historians.org/annual/registration.htm).
Participants can preregister at the reduced rates of $90 members; $110 nonmembers; $55 student members; $65 student nonmembers; $55 unemployed; and $25 precollegiate teachers.
The AHA also offers special preregistration rates of $50 for middle and high school teachers and $100 for undergraduate teachers leading groups of up to five students.
Beginning December 22, attendees will register at the onsite rates: $105 members; $125 nonmembers; $60 student members; $70 student nonmembers; $60 unemployed; and $30 precollegiate teachers. The special group rate mentioned above is not available with onsite rates.
Admission to all AHA sessions, exhibits, the Job Register, and the Messaging and Internet Center requires a registration badge.
Advance registrants who are unable to attend the meeting may request a refund of their registration fee in writing. Requests should be postmarked by December 22, 2006, and should include a copy of the preregistration form that was submitted. Proof of payment—copies of front and back of cancelled check or copy of credit card statement—may also be required. All refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee. No refunds will be issued for requests postmarked after December 22, 2006.
Transportation
Association Travel Concepts (ATC) is the official travel agency for the annual meeting and will book attendees to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Airfare and car rental discounts apply for travel Monday, January 1 through Wednesday, January 10, 2007.
