In Memoriam

Jack Blicksilver, emeritus professor of economic history at Georgia State University, died April 15 of complications of pneumonia and a heart attack at the age of 72.

Dr. Blicksilver received his BA from Queens College in New York in 1948 and his doctorate from Northwestern University in 1955. He taught at Georgia State University for 36 years, before retiring in 1991. In recent years he was the co-owner of the Aspen Book Shop in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

He authored A History of the Life Insurance Company of Georgia and edited The Business History of the U.S.

He is survived by his wife Edith, sons Robert and Paul, daughter Diane Nancy Aja, and two granddaughters. A scholarship fund has been established in his name. Donations can be made to Anne Bramlette, School of Policy Studies, Georgia State University, 35 Broad St., Atlanta, GA 30303.
