Fredric Miller, who received his PhD in British history, died on March 27, 1998. Dr. Miller was for 15 years curator of the Urban Archives Center at Temple University. He was the author of two photographic histories of Philadelphia.
In 1988 Dr. Miller joined the National Endowment for the Humanities. His 1990 book, Arranging and Describing Archives and Manuscripts, has become a standard for archival study and one of the Society of American Archivists’ all-time bestsellers.
