First time at the annual meeting? Not sure what to expect? Wondering how to get the most out of the experience? The AHA’s Graduate and Early Career Committee invites you to an orientation session on Thursday, January 2, from 4–5 p.m. in the Omni Shoreham’s Congressional Room.

2014 Annual Meeting in Washington, DC

The session is designed for first-time participants in the meeting. Learn how to get the most out of the professional development opportunities available at the meeting, build your network, and enhance your teaching.

What kind of questions should you ask? Anything! Wondering what to wear? Looking for tips on navigating the Job Center? Want to know what to expect at the Career Fair?  Not sure how to decide which sessions to attend? Want to know how to ask an effective question at a session? Looking for cheap places to eat near the meeting hotel? Are you curious about the best strategies for networking at the meeting? Want advice on how to get a proposal accepted for the 2015 meeting in New York? This is your chance to ask!

Immediately following the orientation, participants can continue the conversation and put networking tips into action at a reception for graduate students in the Omni Shoreham’s Hampton Ballroom, from 5–6:30 p.m. In addition to good company and free food, there will be a drawing for exciting door prizes!
