AHA Annual Meeting

The 1986 annual meeting of the Association will be held in Chicago, December 27-30. The Program Committee welcomes proposals by historians (academic and nonacademic), by scholars in related disciplines, and by affiliated societies. The proposals may be for entire sessions, panels or workshops, or for a single paper. Those who wish to give a single paper are asked to suggest names of potential commentators, chairs, and related paper givers. The committee strongly encourages sessions whose participation represents both genders. The committee plans no special theme for the meeting but is considering holding three or four sessions devoted to younger scholars whose work is seminal, and it welcomes nominations of such younger scholars from the membership.

All proposals must include a vita for each participant and a one paragraph abstract that summarizes the thesis and significance of each paper. All participants, except foreign scholars and scholars from other disciplines, must be bona fide members of the Association. Those who participated in the 1985 program will not be eligible except under extraordinary circumstances.

The Program Committee will hold its first meeting in November, and early submissions are strongly urged in order to be considered at this meeting. The final deadline for proposals is February 15, 1986.

All proposals should be sent to the Program Committee chair, Margaret C. Jacob, whose address is: Dean, Lang College, New School for Social Research, 66 West 12th St., New York, NY 10011.
