Remembering Africville

Source Guide

Halifax Regional Municipality (Nova Scotia) | Apr 20, 2021

Remembering Africville: Source Guide is an online inventory of documents that tells the story of the troubled relationship between the City of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and the Africville community. Documents include official city records, minutes, and reports as well as citizens' personal letters, petitions, surveys, and committee records. The language of the documents has not been redacted and, therefore, reflects the era's local attitudes about race, ethnicity, and class.
