Lauren Brand is the reviews editor for the American Historical Review. She earned her MA and PhD from Rice University in Houston, Texas. For the past five years, she taught US and world history courses at Southern Nazarene University, where she received the Excellence in Teaching Award. Her doctoral research focuses on the history of Native peoples in the trans-Mississippi west in the 19th century.
