Themes to be Selected at Beijing for 2010 Amsterdam Meeting of CISH

AHA Staff | Sep 1, 2007

The General Assembly of the International Committee of Historical Sciences (usually known by the acronym from the French name as CISH) will be meeting in Beijing September 14–19, 2007. At this meeting—where the U.S. national committee will be represented by AHA Executive Director Arnita A. Jones, and Eric J. Van Young (Univ. of California at San Diego)—the General Assembly will decide on the main themes for the next quinquennial international congress of CISH, to be held at Amsterdam August 22–28, 2010. A list of the themes currently under consideration is available online at www.cish.org/GB/Projets/Proj2010.htm. AHA members interested in participating in the Amsterdam meeting should check the AHA web site after October 1, 2007, to find out what the selected themes are, and to get details for submitting proposals for consideration and review by the U.S. National Committee before transmission to the CISH executive offices.

CISH, which celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2006, held its last international congress in Sydney in 2005. Every five years, the congress brings together historians from across the world and from all fields of history for a few days of intense debate and discussion.
