Amending the AHA Constitution: Express Yourself on the Pros and Cons

AHA Staff | Sep 1, 2007

The AHA's Council is proposing amendments of the Association's constitution to enable the AHA to meet its members' needs more effectively and efficiently (see Executive Director Arnita A. Jones's essay, “Time for Change,” and the text of the constitution with the amendments). To facilitate debate about the proposed amendments as required by the constitution, AHA members will be given an opportunity to express their opinions about the pros and cons of amending the various clauses of the constitution in a special web log created for this purpose. The web log will be open (to AHA members only) from October 1 through October 15, 2007. During that period, members will be able to post comments on the proposed amendments. If the changes are approved at the annual Business Meeting (scheduled to be held on January 5, 2008), they will be submitted to the full membership along with summaries of the pro and con statements, and members will be able to vote on the amendments in an electronic ballot scheduled to be held January 14–25, 2008.
