Looking Forward to the 125th Annual Meeting in Boston

Elisabeth Grant | Jan 4, 2011

The AHA’s 125th Annual Meeting kicks off in Boston this Thursday, January 6th and will continue through Sunday, January 9th. To help attendees prepare, we’ve rounded up general information, Program highlights, ideas on what to do in Boston, Job Center tips, Perspectives on History articles, and more.

Starting Thursday, we’ll be posting annual meeting daily overviews, events coverage, and updates.

General Info
Find general information, like hotel rates, locations of various events, a list of exhibitors, and transportation tips, on the annual meeting home page. If you’ve registered for the meeting, check out the Registration Resource Center for messaging information and hotel receipts.  Peruse the general information from the Program for detailed information on travel, services, meetings, and sessions (including lists of sessions for Graduate and Early Career professionals and those interested in history teaching). And don’t forget, this year’s meeting will feature a quiet room, a space free of conversation, with free wireless, where you can sit and do work, or just decompress.

Program
Search for sessions and events to attend by looking through the Program of the 125th Annual Meeting online (or in PDF format). And, if you’re having trouble sorting through the hundreds of sessions going on this year, check out what we’ve highlighted in our Session of the Week blog post series.

Job Center
The Job Center Handout includes a review of how the Job Center works and a list of all the job searches taking place in Boston (including ones collecting c.v.’s and scheduling interviews onsite) that have been reported to the AHA as of December 22nd. If you’re on the job market you may also be interested in David Darlington’s informative blog post: The Job Center: What Candidates Need to Know.

Boston

Perspectives on History articles
The November 2010 issue of Perspectives on History had a number of annual meeting articles, highlighting an assortment of sessions and events:
