For many past AHA annual meetings Sunday is a light day, with fewer sessions and events and more people heading back home. But this year with the meeting shifted to a Friday to Monday schedule, Sunday is quite a busy day. A number of big events take place today, including a special plenary session taking a historical look at the 2008 election and the annual AHA business meeting. Also check out our special guests at the AHA exhibit hall booth, this year’s poster session, an open forum on public history, the film festival, and a number of receptions. Locations and Times

• Registration desks are located on the Hilton’s second floor promenade and are open today from 8:30 am–4:00 pm.
• The Job Center is located in the Hilton’s Rhinelander Gallery and is open today from 9:00 am–6:00 pm. (Admission to the Job Center requires an AHA registration badge)
• The Exhibit Hall, located in the Hilton’s Americas Halls I and II, is open today from 9:00 am–6:00 pm. (Admission to the Exhibit Hall requires an AHA registration badge)

Guests at AHA Booth
Stop by the AHA’s exhibit hall booth (419) in America’s Hall II to meet and discuss what’s on your mind with some key AHA figures. Today’s guests include:

• 10:00-11:00 am – AHA president-elect Laurel Thatcher Ulrich and AHA immediate past-president Barbara Weinstein
• 2:00-3:00 pm – Robert Schneider, editor of the American Historical Review and Pillarisetti Sudhir, editor of Perspectives on History

Business Meeting
AHA members are invited to attend the AHA’s annual business meeting, 4:45 pm today in the Hilton’s Beekman Parlor, at which the AHA Council, divisions, and committees will report to the Association and other business will be discussed.

Plenary Session: Election 2008: How “Historic” Was It?
This new plenary roundtable session, Election 2008: How “Historic” Was It?, will call on speakers to “consider the [2008] election results from a deeper historical perspective.” The session begins at 8 pm in the Hilton’s West Ballroom.

Poster Session
The poster session, held today from 2:30 to 4:30 pm in the Hilton’s East Ballroom Foyer, allows presenters to present visual material and creates an environment that encourages interaction and focused discussions. This year’s presenters, 16 in total, offer research on a myriad of topics. From “Dumb Blondes and Southern Belles: Women in Entertainment and the Un-American Activities Committees,” to “Drawing Fire: Political Cartoons of the Iranian Revolution in the United States, ” to “You’ve Read the Book, Now See the Web Site: A Virtual Tour of the Worlds of Burke and Hare,” to just note a few.

Public History
Those in the public history field, or just interested in public history, may want to stop by the Open Forum on Public History today from 12:15 to 1:45 pm in the Hilton’s Madison Suite.

Film Festival
Two films are showing in the film festival today: Hidden Warriors: Voices from the Ho Chi Minh Trail plays at 11 am, and Max Havelaar is scheduled for 6 pm. Both are shown in the Hilton’s Concourse G.

Receptions
Looking for a reception to attend? How about the Committee on Minority Historians’ Reception (6:00–7:30 pm in the Hilton’s Madison Suite), the Public History Reception (6:00–7:30 pm in the Hilton’s Clinton Suite), or the Part-time and Adjunct Reception (7:30–9:00 pm in the Hilton’s Gibson Suite).
