ICHS/CISH Deadline Extended to January 15, 2008

AHA Staff | Dec 14, 2007

Eric Van Young (University of California at San Diego), chair of the AHA’s Committee on International Historical Activities (which also includes as members Leon Fink of the University of Illinois at Chicago, Emily Rosenberg of the University of California at Irvine, and Dror Wahrman, Indiana University), invites proposals—to be received by January 15, 2008—from all historians (members of the AHA and nonmembers alike) in all fields and practicing in the United States, to be considered for presentation at the 21st International Congress of Historical Sciences to be held August 22–28, 2010, in Amsterdam.

The AHA’s Committee on International Historical Activities is charged with vetting proposals from the United States and forwarding a slate to the International Committee of Historical Sciences (more commonly known by the French version of the acronym as CISH) for consideration and final selection for the Amsterdam meeting.

The committee had originally set December 15, 2007, as the deadline for receiving proposals but has extended it now to January 15, 2008, to encourage more submissions. Please contact the chair (evanyoung@ucsd.edu) if you have questions about the procedures or possible proposals.

Details regarding the meeting are mentioned in the brief article in the November 2007 issue of Perspectives, and the procedures for putting together proposals—large sessions, specialized theme sessions, round-tables, and so forth—are available at both the AHA and ICHS web sites. The official web site of the 21st International Congress is being developed at http://www.ichs2010.org/
