President-elect John C. Coatsworth (Harvard Univ.) will announce the following book awards and prizes:

Herbert Baxter Adams Prize, European history, ancient through 1815

George Louis Beer Prize, European international history since 1895

Albert J. Beveridge Award, U.S., Latin American, or Canadian history, 1492 to present

Paul Birdsall Prize, European military and strategic history

James Henry Breasted Prize, Far Eastern and South Asian history prior to 1000 A.D.

Albert Corey Prize, history of Canadian-American relations or the history of both countries

John King Fairbank Prize, East Asian history from 1800 to present

Herbert Feis Award, to an independent scholar or public historian

Leo Gershoy Award, 17th- and 18th-century Western European history

Joan Kelly Memorial Prize, women's history

Littleton-Griswold Prize, American law and society

Helen & Howard R. Marraro Prize, Italian or Italian-U.S. history

Premio del Rey Prize, early Spanish history, Hispanic history and culture prior to 1516

James Harvey Robinson Prize, to the best teaching aid

Wesley-Logan Prize, history of the dispersion, settlement and adjustment, and the return of peoples originally from Africa

President-elect Coatsworth will also announce recipients of the following awards and honors:

1994 AHA Awards for Scholarly Distinction

Troyer Steele Anderson Prize, for service to the profession

Eugene Asher Distinguished Teaching Award

John O'Connor Film Award

Nancy Lyman Roelker Mentorship Award

1994 Honorary Foreign Member

Thomas C. Holt (Univ. of Chicago) will then deliver his presidential address, "Marking: Race, Race-making, and the Writing of History."
