Letters to the Editor

Editor's Note: This letter is in response to Alexandra M. Lord's letter in the February 2003 issue of Perspectives.

To the Editor:

I am an insurance company administrator who was trained as a historian. Alexandra M. Lord's letter in the February 2003 Perspectives makes a significant point: there are many historians out there who are not teaching, but are working in other fields. Information about them should be published in the job market articles in Perspectives. I do commend the AHA for having a membership category for the nonteaching historian, and would like to point out that these members are just as professional as those who teach. Perhaps the AHA and Perspectives can give more emphasis to the nonteaching members.
