This conference will be held on May 1-2 2025 in partnership with NYC’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, where all five of our objects are held:

  • A 12th-c. s Persian chess set (1971.193a-ff)
  • A late 13th-c. Mongol safe-conduct pass (1993.256)
  • A 15th-c. Italian mandora (64.101.1409)
  • A late-15th c. Granadan Qur’an case 04.3.458)
  • A late-16th/early-17th c. Flemish bronze statue, “The Bather” (26.14.15)
