Honoring the memory and lasting vision of Thomas C. Cundy, Sr. the Institute on World War II and the Human Experience, Department of History, Florida State University anticipates offering at least one $1000 Thomas C. Cundy travel grant for scholars and graduate students (ABD) to use the holdings of the Institute on World War II and the Human Experience in 2019-2020.    

Founded in 1997, the Institute maintains one of the nation’s largest archives documenting the human dimension of the Second World War with special emphasis on the role of American servicemen and servicewomen as well as those serving on the home front. Notable international collections include the Hasterlik, Hine and Wolff Collection which focuses on the daily lives of a middle class Jewish Viennese family and their responses to Nazi persecution. Applicants for this program should submit by May 30, 2019 a proposal of no more than five pages in the form of a letter, a current c.v., and the names and addresses of three references, all in a PDF document. Graduate student applicants should also submit a letter of recommendation from their Dissertation Advisor or the Director of Graduate Studies of their program.
