We are reaching out to the higher education community to contribute your input for updating AAC&U’s Essential Learning Outcomes (ELO) framework. We invite you to participate by completing the short survey below or through our website.

First developed in 2007, the ELO framework has helped to define the expectations for college-level learning in the twenty-first century. The broad adoption of this framework across higher education is owed to the remarkable consensus it reflects across varied stakeholder groups within and beyond higher education—from higher education leaders and practitioners, to accreditors and employers. The ELO framework continues to be highly influential in shaping teaching and learning initiatives, assessment, and student success.

But much has changed in the world and in higher education since the ELOs were released. It is time to revisit what is “essential” for students’ learning in preparation to thrive in their lives, careers, and communities and an opportunity to, once again, build consensus.

The public comment period will close October 15th. Thank you for your contribution to this important effort!
