Call for Applications | “Technology in Asia” Virtual Workshop

The Association for Asian Studies is pleased to invite early career scholars, early career practitioners, and advanced graduate students (near candidacy or PhD candidates) to participate in “Technology in Asia,” the fourth workshop in its series “Emerging Fields in Asian Studies,” supported by the Henry Luce Foundation. The fourth workshop is convened by Aleksandra Kobiljski (CNRS) and will be virtually hosted by the Weatherhead East Asian Institute at Columbia University in New York City. The workshop will be held online from Friday, May 13 through Sunday, May 15, 2022

 

To apply: please submit a 500-word abstract and a CV (maximum two pages) in Word or PDF format by Monday, February 14, 2022 through the AAS application portal. Between 10 and 12 participants will be selected; all applicants will be notified of decisions via email by March 1, 2022 If selected for the workshop, you will be expected to submit a 5,000-7,000 word piece that exemplifies and situates your research contribution to the field of technology in Asia by Monday, April 25, 2022. At the workshop, senior and junior colleagues will offer written feedback on the pre-circulated piece and engage discussions about the field.
