The North American Society for Sport History (NASSH) invites submissions for its NASSH Dissertation Research Award. The winner of the prize will receive up to $3000USD for one award, or for fractional awards for several applicants, at the discretion of the Committee.

Eligibility:   This award is open to Doctoral Students with All But Dissertation (ABD) status. Candidates are eligible for one-time funding. In addition the following eligibility criteria apply:

• Applicants must be current NASSH members at the time of submission, as well as the year the prize is awarded.
• Funding is for research activities and not travel/accommodation to or for the NASSH Conference.

In the case of several meritorious applications, preference will be given to projects that emphasize primary source collection on location (archives or interviews).

Successful applicants must submit all receipts to the NASSH treasurer for reimbursement.

Application Procedure: Applicants must complete the Dissertation Research Award nomination form (available as a PDF) to the NASSH Conference Conftool system under the Dissertation Research Award option. Additionally, the applicant must solicit and have emailed a maximum 200 word statement from their Doctoral Advisor on the suitability of the applicant and their research for this grant. The statement should be emailed to: diss-research@nassh.org with the applicant’s name in the subject line. Your application is not complete until that statement has been received and you have received confirmation of its arrival. All materials must be received by the application deadline to be considered complete.
