The Center for History and Culture at Lamar University is pleased to announce its annual award for the best book related to the history, culture, or creative activities of Southeast Texas and the Upper Gulf Coast.  The purpose of the prize is to promote scholarship, knowledge, and writing about the region.  Books must have been published and copyrighted in 2017 or 2018 to be eligible.  The winning author will receive $1,000, which will be awarded in April 2019.  Judges may withhold or divide the award at their discretion.

Authors and/or publishers should submit three copies of their book by February 15, 2019 to:
