Texas State Historical Association Launches Second Annual Virtual Race Across Texas

More than 10,000 Expected to Compete in Online Game to Test Knowledge of Texas History and Win Prizes

AUSTIN, TX – The Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) has launched the second annual Virtual Race Across Texas, an online social game to test competitors’ knowledge of all things Texan.

The free game, which runs through July 31, challenges players with daily questions about Texas history and encourages them to invite friends to compete against each other. Participants can register to play at www.raceacrosstexas.com.

Players will be invited to travel virtually across the state, visiting a new Texas destination online each day and answering historical questions about Texas events, people and places. The first leg of the virtual race will test participants’ knowledge of the Texas Revolution, the second leg will test players’ knowledge of historic sites and landmarks, and the final leg will include questions about Texas treasures and museums.

“The Texas State Historical Association is dedicated to recording and sharing the authentic story of Texas, and the Virtual Race Across Texas is a fun way for us to encourage people to learn more about our great state. More than 10,000 people participated in the Race last year, and based on the feedback we received and early registration, we expect even more competitors to participate this year,” said Brian Bollinger, Chief Executive Officer of the Texas State Historical Association.

Participants can accumulate points by answering multiple-choice questions correctly, inviting friends to play, and becoming TSHA members. The more points earned, the better chance of winning great prizes, such as travel packages, Texas-sized barbecue grills, private tours, museum visits, and Texas Almanacs. Prizes will be awarded weekly and the grand prize will be awarded to the player with the most points at the end of the game.
