Institute for Constitutional History’s Fall Seminar in D.C.: Dissent and the Supreme Court

Applications are now being accepted for the Institute for Constitutional History’s fall seminar in Washington, D.C., for advanced graduate students and junior faculty. Dissent and the Supreme Court, led by Professor Melvin I. Urofsky will meet Mondays, beginning September 12 at the George Washington University Law School. In this seminar, we will look at the conversations that dissenters have with other members of the Supreme Court, the other branches of government, and the public, and examine in depth some of the iconic dissents. Applications are due June 15.

The seminar will meet Monday nights, 6 pm – 8 pm, September 12, 26, October 10, 24, November 7, and 21, 2016, at the George Washington University Law School, 2000 H Street NW, Washington, D.C., 20052.

There is no tuition or other charge for these seminars. The seminar is designed for graduate students and junior faculty in history, political science, law, and related disciplines. Space is limited, so applicants should send a copy of their c.v. and a short statement on how this seminar will be useful to them in their research, teaching, or professional development.
