Instructions: Use the clues provided to identify the following historic sites. Visit each location and take a "selfie" (or, a photograph of yourself) at the location. Either bring the five photos to the AHA booth in person OR tweet them to #aha17 #scavengerhunt. 1. What is the oldest brewery in the State of Colorado?

HINT: Its journey began in 1859 selling beer to thirsty miners and early Denver settlers. It grew to eventually become the largest brewery west of the Missouri River, at the time providing a complete line of beers to not only Coloradans, but the entire Western United States. Today it is the home of 52 taps.

2. What was the first church for Spanish-speaking Catholics in northern Colorado?

HINT: Inspired by the churches of Mexico and New Mexico. It has a stucco exterior, rounded arches, twin bell towers, and a red-tile roof. The building was complete in March 1926.

3. Where can one find an interesting sample of turn-of-the-century buildings near downtown?

HINT: One of Denver’s oldest surviving residential blocks with faces of dwellings from the 1870s. Once a residential neighborhood where a miller, a grocer, a councilman, and a restauranteur resided until 1976. Golda Meir, the first female prime minister of Israel, lived in one of these houses.

4. In 1910, what was the tallest building between the Mississippi River and the state of California?

HINT: The Denver Times gloated that, thanks to the flagpole, it was six feet taller than its Italian prototype. Today this 372-foot tower stands alone, having narrowly escaped the urban renewal demolition that erased the remainder of the complex. Atop the observation deck are clock faces on all four sides.

5. What building facilitated the Union Pacific, the Denver & Rio Grande Western, the Denver, South Park & Pacific, and the Colorado Central?

HINT: Its site opened on June 1, 1881 and is not a designated landmark.
