Transportation in Washington DC

Shuttle Bus

Registration includes a free shuttle bus that will circulate between the hotels during meeting hours. Buses will depart every twenty minutes. There will be a dispatcher at each hotel to assist attendees with information. Buses will pick up and drop off passengers from the Marriott’s 24th Street entrance, the Omni Shoreham’s main entrance on Calvert Street, and the Hilton’s T Street entrance on the Terrace Level.

Airports

Ronald Reagan / Washington National (DCA)

The DCA information desks are located between the baggage carousels and the security checkpoint (Terminal A), across from baggage carousel number 6 (Terminal B/C) and on the concourse level (Terminal B and C). Taxis can be found directly outside of baggage claim, and uniformed taxicab dispatchers are available to help passengers with disabilities. The airport’s rental car service is located on the first floor in Terminal Garage A. See the airport website for more information about ground transportation.

Attendees can take the WMATA Washington Metro directly from DCA to the annual meeting hotels by boarding a northbound Yellow line train to Fort Totten (Metro directions are indicated by terminus stops) and transferring to the westbound Red Line (Shady Grove) at Gallery Place station. From there, take the Red Line to Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan station or Dupont Circle station.

Travel Time: 43 minutes from DCA to Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan

Fare: $2.60 during off-peak times/$3.35 during peak times

Washington Dulles International Airport

Information desks are available at each lettered concourse, near Gates A15, B62, C17, and D16, respectively. For ground transportation, follow signs to the lower level of the terminal. A customer service representative is available 24 hours a day. Wheelchair accessible vehicles are available. These shuttles are located at curb 2C and 2D. The Silver Line Express Bus, located at arrivals level door 4, takes people between the terminal and the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station on the Silver Line. To get to the Marriott Wardman Park from Washington Dulles, attendees may take the shuttle from the airport to the Wiehle-Reston East station and take any Silver Train to the Metro Center station. From there, take the westbound Red Line train (Shady Grove) to the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan station or Dupont Circle station.

Fare: $5.00 for bus to Wiehle-Reston + $3.85 off-peak times/$6.00 peak times for Metro

Baltimore-Washington International Airport

Information desks are available near concourses A/B and D in the main terminal upper level, and near concourses A/B, C, D, and E in the main terminal lower level. Taxis are located just outside of the baggage claim area on the lower level of the terminal near doors 5 and 13. The rental car facility is located at Stoney Run Road and New Ridge Road, with shuttle service to and from the facility located on the lower level terminal. Visitors can also take the Maryland Area Regional Commuter (MARC) or Amtrak train from BWI to Union Station. Shuttle services between BWI and the MARC/Amtrak station runs 24 hours a day. From BWI, attendees can take the MARC train Southbound to Union Station in Washington. From there, transfer to the westbound Red Line (Shady Grove) and take it to the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan or Dupont Circle station.

Metrorail

The Washington Metro system is composed of six lines: Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Silver, and Orange, and services the District and adjacent suburbs in Maryland and Northern Virginia. Riders enter and exit the system using a SmarTrip card, which can be purchased from vending machines located in metro stations. Fares vary based on distance traveled and time of day. The Marriott Wardman Park and Omni Shoreham Hotel are located in the NW quadrant of DC at the corner of Connecticut Avenue NW and Calvert Street NW. Parking for both hotels is available off Calvert Street NW between 28th Street NW and Shoreham Drive NW. The Washington Hilton is located .5 miles south on Connecticut Avenue NW at the corner of Connecticut Avenue NW and T Street NW. Parking for the Washington Hilton is available off T Street NW. Washington Circulator

This free bus service operates six routes across the city covering most of the District’s busiest neighborhoods. The Woodley Park-Adams Morgan-McPherson Square bus stops at the Woodley Park Metro station and takes riders to Franklin Square, a short walk from the White House. Other routes operate between Union Station and Georgetown and along the National Mall.

Capital Bikeshare

Capital Bikeshare is an automated bike sharing service in the Washington Metropolitan Area. With over 400 stations and 3,700 bikes located throughout the city, Capitol Bikeshare offers riders a cheap and accessible means of traversing the city. Single trips start at $2 and users can return bikes at any of the city’s stations.
